Our Journey of Faith
Who We Are
Watauga Community Church is a welcoming, open-hearted Christian community rooted in the mountains of Western North Carolina. We gather around Christ’s table with joy, seeking to follow Jesus through compassion, justice, and genuine belonging. Our doors are open to all — seekers, believers, questioners, and neighbors — as we worship, serve, and grow together. We believe faith comes alive in community, and here you’ll find encouragement, grace, and a place to call home.

What is a Community Church?

A community church is a congregation formed around shared faith rather than a single denomination. As part of the International Council of Community Churches (ICCC), we stand in an ecumenical tradition that values unity, open fellowship, and freedom of conscience. People from many backgrounds worship together without needing to think alike to belong.

As a community church, we serve our local community and extend our fellowship through digital worship. Whether gathered in person or online, we pray, learn, and serve side-by-side—creating space where neighbors near and far can grow in Christ. Membership is open to all, and participation can happen in the sanctuary or from home. Our mission continues across screens, social media, and virtual gatherings, ensuring that the call to “love God and love neighbor” reaches beyond our four walls.

To put it simply:
We are a welcoming, united, Christ-centered church—local in heart, global in reach, in person and online.
